NEW BRAND IDENTITY

Core 7 is the Okanagan’s newest occupational therapy provider, founded by Louisa Cotton, whose work is guided by seven core values. During our initial meeting, Louisa shared a whirlwind of ideas for the brand, envisioning a logo inspired by nature, people, health, wellness, and the circle of care—all within a minimalist design. By distilling her concepts into their essence, we created a logo and brand identity that seamlessly balanced modernity and meaning, reflecting the compassion and professionalism of Core 7.

WHAT I DID

BRAND IDENTITY
The typeface for the Core 7 logo was crafted entirely from scratch, ensuring every character adhered to a precise grid for cohesion and balance. This meticulous approach allowed the design to maintain a harmonious structure while feeling modern and approachable. The client’s initial concept of a circular logo evolved naturally into rounded character forms within the typeface, seamlessly tying their vision into the typography. The result is a bespoke typeface that reflects the brand’s emphasis on connection, care, and professionalism.
The Core 7 colour palette was carefully crafted to reflect the natural beauty of the Okanagan region, a key inspiration for the brand. Teal Dark Blue evokes the serene lakes that define the landscape, while Caribbean Green captures the vibrant greenery of the valley’s trees. Fennel Green mirrors the rolling grassy hills, and Vanilla Wafer brings warmth with tones reminiscent of the area’s woodlands. Together, these colours ground the brand in its local roots, conveying calmness, care, and connection to nature.
The letter R in the Core 7 logo is a deceptively simple character with a profound story. Its hook shape and the circle above form a dynamic figure, symbolizing a person at the heart of everything—a reflection of the brand’s people-centric ethos. This R also serves as a standalone logo mark, transcending its letterform to represent care and connection. When inverted and interconnected, it creates a repeatable pattern symbolising the collaborative relationship between patient and provider, reinforcing the essence of care within the brand.
